Protect Your Closing From Wire Fraud

 Before sending an earnest money deposit or closing funds, contact Enterprise Title by phone and speak directly with a member of our team. We will explain how your funds should be delivered. Earnest money may be wired or delivered by check as instructed. Closing funds must be wired. 

 Enterprise Title provides wire instructions through ClosingLock, a secure system that uses multi-factor authentication. Do not rely on wiring instructions received through ordinary email. 

 Before sending any wire, call Enterprise Title using a trusted phone number and verify the instructions with our office. Our wiring instructions will not change during your transaction. If Enterprise Title is holding your earnest money deposit, your closing funds will be wired to the same account. 

 Real estate transactions are frequent targets of wire fraud. Criminals may compromise or impersonate the email accounts of buyers, sellers, Realtors, attorneys, lenders or title companies and send fraudulent wiring instructions. Once funds are wired to a fraudulent account, they can be transferred quickly and may be extremely difficult—or impossible—to recover. 

 Enterprise Title will never email you revised or replacement wiring instructions. If you receive a message claiming that our bank, account number or wiring instructions have changed, do not send the wire and do not reply to the message. Call our office immediately using a phone number you independently know to be correct. 

 Never send closing funds based solely on an email, text message or last-minute request. If anything about a wire request seems different or unexpected, stop and call us.
